2025 Hero's Luncheon honoring the Betenbough Family

In 1992, father and son Ron and Rick Betenbough, together with Rick's wife, Holly, founded Betenbough Homes with a shared commitment to honor God with their business. Their innovative cost-plus approach to construction made quality homes more affordable to first-time home buyers in Lubbock -- a model that continues to temper the housing market today, keeping residential real estate prices affordable in the Hub City. Walk into the Betenbough Homes Support Center, and you'll see the words "More home, less money" displayed as a reminder of the vision Ron, Rick, and Holly dedicated three decades of their lives to building.

Each brought unique strengths to the table in forming something truly extraordinary. The company's relational culture began with Ron as he made friends and sold homes, and it eventually cascaded through the leadership of the company. Ron loved well, and his legacy lives on, as love remains the "secret sauce" of the organization. Rick's wisdom and strategic insight were instrumental to the company's success. For many years, his primary calling was leading Betenbough Homes, and that's where he focused his Kingdom impact until his final decade, when he transitioned out of leading Betenbough Homes to actively engage and equip other business leaders. Holly has profoundly influenced the spiritual foundation of the company, consistently reflecting the heart of God. Her example, direction, and service have shaped Betenbough Companies' spirit of generous stewardship toward employees, the local community, and beyond.

The Betenbough family's impact in Lubbock extends beyond affordable housing. They have invested in the community through radical generosity and servant leadership. Holly played a key role in leading the Sanctuary City initiative, resulting in the 2021 ordinance that effectively banned abortions within the city limits. Ron envisioned and launched Kingdom Towers, a residential transition program offering a safe, sober, Christ-centered environment for men reentering society after incarceration. Rick mentored countless leaders and supported Kingdom businesses, including some that could have been seen as competitors for Betenbough Homes. These efforts and more continue to produce lasting fruit. Together, Ron, Rick, and Holly have lived open-handedly, giving their time, talents, and resources in ways too numerous to measure.

Today, the Betenbough family's legacy lives on through more than 400 employees across Betenbough Companies, which include Betenbough Business Services, Betenbough Homes, Elevate Building Supply, Impact Title, Kingdom at Work, Ninety-Two Bakery & Café, and The Willows Events and Catering. Their people-first approach continues to ripple outward, blessing team members, customers, trade partners, communities, and ministry partners around the world. The Community Foundation of West Texas honors the Betenbough family for their immeasurable contributions to West Texas and the people who call it home.
