Past Honorees

Marsha Sharp is a legendary basketball coach, leader, and advocate whose 24-season career leading the Texas Tech Lady Raiders produced a 572-189 record, eight conference championships, 10 Sweet 16 appearances, four Elite Eight appearances, and a 1993 NCAA National Championship. Named National Coach of the Year in 1993 and 1994, Sharp has received numerous honors, including inductions into the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame, Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, and Texas Tech Athletics Hall of Honor. Beyond her on-court success, she is recognized for her commitment to student-athletes’ academic achievement, leadership development, and personal growth, including helping establish the Marsha Sharp Center for Student-Athletes and the J.T. and Margaret Talkington Leadership Academy. A former president of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and executive director of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, Sharp continues to inspire others as a speaker, consultant, and advocate for leadership, ethics, equity, and teamwork.

John M. Tye III is a respected business leader, engineer, and entrepreneur whose career has focused on innovation and growth in the agricultural equipment industry. After earning engineering degrees from Texas Tech University and Oklahoma State University, he held leadership roles in manufacturing before transforming a small family-owned farm equipment company in Lockney, Texas, into AgEquipment Group, a major North American manufacturer that was later acquired by AGCO Corporation. Throughout his career, he has also invested in agricultural technology, real estate, and electronics, while serving on numerous corporate, educational, healthcare, and community boards. Recognized for his contributions to the industry with induction into the Farm Equipment Shortline Legends Hall of Fame, Tye continues to support his community and industry through civic leadership and investment while residing in Plainview, Texas, with his wife, Vel.
