Another successful Hero’s Luncheon is on the books! As the signature fundraiser event for the Community Foundation of West Texas, The Hero’s Luncheon has a two-fold purpose: to create an endowment for the named honoree, and to raise funds for the administrative and operational needs of the Foundation.
Thank you to our generous sponsors and everyone attending that helped celebrate and recognize our 2019 Hero - The Bass Family. Click HERE for photos and video of the event.
The Bass Family is a Lubbock legacy representing a lifetime of service to the Lubbock community through numerous civic, cultural, and community institutions and initiatives that foster greater representation and diversity within the Lubbock community, but have also advanced greater public participation in the pursuit of the high ideals represented in the arts, racial equity, and community service within our city.
The roots of community service and involvement run deep in the Bass Family. Roy and Anita epitomized the West Texas spirit of giving, community service, and civic involvement. Their legacy is recognizable today. As founding members of Second Baptist Church and South Plains Food Bank, they led by example, showing their sons, Byrnie, David, and Mark, the value of community, cultural and civic involvement.
The Bass Brothers and their wives, have collectively invested time, energy, and money into the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, the Salvation Army, Lubbock United Way, Lubbock City-County Library Board, Lubbock Entertainment and Performing Arts Association, Downtown Development, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Arts Alliance, among many others.
Byrnie & Sharon, David & Margery, and Mark & Betsy are continuing their family legacy. They have given Anita and Roy 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
