April Scholarship Deadlines


It's time for spring and for scholarships! This year, we have 12 scholarship deadlines in April, with scholarships available for all kinds of South Plains students.

Read below for information on available scholarships, as well as how to apply for them!

 

Autumn Day Scholarship

Deadline: April 1

This scholarship was established by Larry and Karen Day as a way of saying thank you to the residents of Terry County for the kindness shown to their family when their niece, Autumn, sustained life-threatening injuries in a horse riding accident.

Eligibility:

Terry County high school seniors

Selection Criteria:

  • Graduating seniors from Terry County high school

  • Financial need

Advantage Medical Staffing Nursing Scholarship

Deadline: April 15

This scholarship was established by Advantage Medical Staffing for the benefit of students who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing.

Eligibility:

  • Students who are 25 years of age or older and are pursing a career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse

  • Current enrollment or application to a college/university in the Lubbock area

  • Past recipients are eligible to reapply

Association of Texas Leaders for Education Scholarship

Deadline: April 15 (Deadline extended from March only for 2018)

This scholarship was established by the Association of Texas Leaders for Education (ATLE) for Texas resident graduating seniors who will be attending a Texas school to pursue a secondary education.

Eligibility:

  • Graduating Texas high school senior

  • A 3.5 or higher GPA

  • Volunteer service

Maude A. Brown Scholarship

Deadline: April 15

This scholarship was established by the Maude A. Brown Scholarship Trust Fund. The scholarship is to be awarded to a graduating senior from Spur High School who will be furthering their education at the post-secondary level. Preference shall be given to a student majoring in Education.

Eligibility:

  • Graduate of Spur High School

  • Financial need

  • Majoring in Education

  • If already attending college, must have 12 hours completed and a 3.0 GPA

Don & Sybil Harrington Scholarship

Deadline: April 15 (Deadline extended from March only for 2018)

This prestigious scholarship was established for the benefit of truly exceptional students from Lubbock County high schools who wish to pursue their education in one of the following fields: Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or Engineering.

Eligibility:

  • Lubbock county high school seniors

  • Pursuit of degree in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, or Engineering

  • Minimum SAT combined score of 1290 or minimum ACT score of 28

  • High school GPA of 3.5 or higher

  • Academically motivated

  • Financial need may be considered

Selection Criteria:

  • Scholastic potential or achievement

  • Financial need may be considered

Jerry Crawford Lubbock High School Alumni Scholarship

Deadline: April 15

This fund was established by the Lubbock High School Alumni Association. It will benefit a graduating senior of Lubbock High School who will be attending an accredited college or university in the Texas Panhandle-Plains area.

Eligibility:

Graduating seniors of Lubbock High School who will be attending an accredited college or university in the Texas Panhandle-Plains area

Selection Criteria:

The following criteria will be weighed equally:

  • Financial need (not eligible for Pell grants, but family income not sufficient to pay for college education expenses)

  • Academic standing

  • Citizenship

Lubbock Independent School District - New Directions Scholarship

Deadline: April 15

This fund was established by Mrs. Lou Diekemper to provide educational support to graduating New Directions seniors who wish to pursue some type of higher education.

Eligibility:

Students graduating from New Directions who wish to pursue higher education

George & Bessie Yantis McCleskey Scholarship

Deadline: April 15

This scholarship was established by the descendants of George and Bessie McCleskey in memory of George and Bessie McCleskey and their courage, hard work, and dreams for their children.

Eligibility:

Rotan High School seniors who plan to pursue an education at the post-secondary level

Selection Criteria:

Graduating senior of Rotan High School

Lubbock Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Chapter Memorial Scholarship Fund

Deadline: April 1

This scholarship was established by the former Lubbock chapter for the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists.

Eligibility:

This scholarship is intended for students pursuing a PhD in natural sciences. These include:

  • Agricultural (scientific research areas)

  • Arts and sciences

  • Geologic sciences

  • Mathematics

  • Biological sciences

  • Physics

  • Chemistry

  • Engineering (scientific research areas)

  • Human sciences

  • Nutrition (scientific research areas)

Johnny Clanton Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: April 30

This scholarship was established by Mrs. Beth Clanton and her daughters in memory of her husband Johnny for the benefit of a graduating Seminole High School student who will be pursuing a post-secondary education.

Eligibility:

  • Students must be a graduating senior of Seminole High School who have been in the Seminole school district since the 7th grade

  • The student must be continuing their education at the post-secondary level

  • Student must have participated in an agricultural project while in high school

Danny Gunn Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: April 30

This scholarship was established by Melinda Gunn in memory of Danny Gunn, a dedicated agricultural teacher and FFA advisor. Danny Gunn was proud of his students' accomplishments and throughout his life and teaching career impacted innumerable lives.

Eligibility:

Graduating senior at a Texas Area 1 FFA high school applying to Texas Tech University or Texas A&M University

Selection Criteria:

  • 3.5 GPA or higher

  • Financial need

Tomorrow Youth Endowment Scholarship

Deadline: April 30

This fund was established by Mr. John Tye to support the educational endeavors of graduates of Lockney High School

Eligibility:

Graduates of Lockney High School who are or will be attending Texas Tech University with a major in Engineering, Science, or Business Administration.
