CFWT Mini-Grants for Teachers Story: Kingdom Come Ministries
With a Mini-Grant for Teachers from the Community Foundation of West Texas and Parkhill Building Community Fund, Kingdom Come Ministries expanded its support to 4 additional schools. The organization went from partnering with one school to five, four in Lubbock and one in Littlefield. Kingdom Come Ministries provides school staff with physical, financial, and emotional resources. CFWT Mini-Grants for Teachers Story: Cathelene Thomas Elementary School
Cathelene Thomas Elementary School hosted a community-wide activity on its downtown square with Mini-Grants for Teachers Grant from the Community Foundation of West Texas. The “Tigers Reaching for the Stars” event provided 5th-grade students and their families with an opportunity to see stars and planets through telescopes set up by teachers. One teacher said “Students were able to view Jupiter and Saturn fairly easy that evening.” Nearly 100 people attended the first “Tigers


2022 Clay R. Warren Memorial Scholarship Recipient
The 2022 Clay R. Warren Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Plainview High School senior Sophie Cain. Sophie plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin and major in public relations. While in high school, Sophie participated in activities including student council, cheerleading, and choir. Sophie has also spent time volunteering with PAWS Pet Adoption, Snack Pak 4 Kids, Meals on Wheels, and in the child care center of the First Baptist Church of Plainview. The Clay R.
