Nine students receive Phoenix Award
This year the Lubbock Area Foundation announced nine recipients for the Phoenix Awards as part of the Optimist Club of Lubbock’s Endowment through LAF. Each student will receive a $500 scholarship towards their education. The Optimist Club describes the Phoenix Award as follows:
Recognize there is something strong in you.
You are pressing on to success and prosperity in your life.
You are encouraged to look at the sunny side of everything and think only of the best, work only for the best and expect only the best.
Forget the mistakes of the past.
And look forward to greater achievements of the future.
Continue to give time to the improvement of yourself.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear.
And so happy that your optimism shines true.
We are proud to present the awards to these deserving students and look forward to their bright futures.
