Local Nonprofits Urged to Apply for Funding

The Lubbock Area Foundation (LAF) is accepting Grant Applications from local area nonprofits for the Community Funds Grants. LAF awards grants to area nonprofits in Lubbock and the 15 counties in our service area: Bailey, Cochran, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Terry and Yoakum Counties through the Community Funds Discretionary Grants four times a year. Applications for the second cycle are due April 1, 2015. The Discretionary Grants are available to organizations which are 501(c)(3) and in good-standing, or the government equivalent in Lubbock and the surrounding South Plains area. Grants may be made for general operating support, program support and demonstration programs.

Typical grant awards range from $1,500 – $3,000 with $5,000 as the maximum from Community Funds.

The funding priorities of LAF are:

  • Impact: service to a wide segment of the community and assistance to those not adequately served by existing resources

  • Innovation: responsiveness to changing or emerging community needs and a practical approach for solving community problems

  • Leverage: the project leverages or generates other funding or resources

  • Management: there is a clear plan for implementation and the organization has the capability of delivering the service/program in a cost effective manner

  • Non-Duplication: the project does not duplicate existing programs or services
