CFWT Mini-Grants for Teachers Story: Levelland ISD Academic Beginnings Center

With Mini-Grants for Teachers funding from the Foundation, Levelland ISD Academic Beginnings Center campus continues its “Therapy Dogs in the Classrooms” program in the 2021-2022 school year. This year the school wanted to expand the program by adding a second therapy dog. The school explains, “This dog ‘Kodie’ will work opposite days as Arry allowing for each dog to work and also have a day off to prevent from burn out.” Both dogs have passed all training certifications and have been awarded therapy dog licenses. Levelland ABC is placing the therapy dogs in the classrooms “to provide students with a positive interaction with dogs while providing needed physical and emotional support to all students, staff, parents and community.” Levelland ABC joined forces with the City of Levelland for a new Proclamation for The Alliance of Therapy Dogs Day on April 30th. The school hopes to get therapy dog programs started on other campuses in the near future.
