2014 Grantee Luncheon

The Lubbock Area Foundation held its annual Grantee Luncheon on October 27, 2014 at the Scottish Rite. This yearly event gives the foundation an opportunity to showcase its grant and scholarship recipients. During the past year, 122 students have received $492,000 in scholarships to further their educational goals. The foundation also awarded 431 grants to nonprofits throughout the South Plains area totaling 1.2 million.

Since 1997, the Mini-Grants for Teachers program has awarded 431 grants to 375 teachers in 120 schools in 19 school districts. Mini-Grants totaling over $313,514 have provided enriching academic experiences for thousands of students and have provided a means for recognizing and rewarding the efforts of outstanding teachers in the South Plains region.

In 2014, a total of $31,513 was given in mini-grants that will allow area teachers to be more creative and innovative in the way they educate our young people during the 2014/2015 school year and beyond.

The ability to bring a diverse group of donors together to address a community need is just one of the things that make the Lubbock Area Foundation unique and important to the viability of our communities.

At the luncheon, LAF highlighted six area nonprofits for their outstanding work in the community:

Texas Boys Ranch Early Learning Centers of Lubbock Lubbock Children’s Health Clinic Post Animal Refuge Center Plainview Community Concert Association American GI Forum

Each was given a monetary donation for their cause.

Congratulations to our 2014 Impact Award recipients – Texas Boys Ranch.
