Community Foundation of West Texas Grants Almost $700,000.00 to South Plains Nonprofit Agencies
Tuesday, April 5, 2016 the Community Foundation of West Texas will announce grants to 48 agencies across the South Plains. The press conference will be held at The Texas Tech Museum (3301 4th Street) in the Diamond M Gallery at 2:00 p.m. These grants are gifts made possible through the Sybil B. Harrington Endowment for the Arts, Ruth C. Wright Endowment for the Animals, the Parkhill Smith & Cooper Building Community Funds, and the Community Foundation of West Texas Community Funds.
Established with a $3 million grant from the Sybil B. Harrington Living Trust, the Sybil B. Harrington Endowment for the Arts supports the ongoing artistic and cultural efforts of organizations, both large and small, as well as new and unique arts initiatives in Lubbock and Hale counties.
The Ruth C. Wright Endowment for Animals was established through a charitable bequest and provides grant funding for nonprofit organizations in the South Plains area that address the needs of lost, abandoned and injured animals.
Parkhill, Smith and Cooper, Inc. (PSC) created the PSC Building Community Fund with the following purpose and principles in mind:
Enhance their awareness of community needs
Invest in making their communities more vibrant
Reinforce their responsibility to be corporate stewards in their communities
Share their Time – Talent – Treasure
Establish PSC as a “community leader”
Encourage recruiting and retention for PSC and their profession
Recognize that giving back is PSC’s expression of gratitude
