Mini-Grants for Teachers CFWT Grant Story: New Home ISD

A New Home art teacher purchased a pottery wheel, toolkit, and clay for her classroom with a Mini-Grant from the Community Foundation of West Texas. These pottery items were purchased for K-6 and 9-12 grade student use for the 2019-2020 school year.

Students began learning about the process of throwing pots by watching videos and the teacher’s demonstrations. The teacher said: “The students were so excited to get their hands dirty and learn how to throw pots on a wheel.” Students also enjoyed the process of trimming, shaping, and manipulating the clay to create a masterpiece.
